Innovative PACT Therapy: Precise, Gentle Infection Control Without Side Effects

During the peak of the "antibiotic cocktails," Prof. Hahn and his team sought gentle alternatives. They developed photodynamic therapy, where dyes such as Aminolävulinsäure or Toluidinblau are activated by light to selectively destroy bacteria—without damaging the body's own cells. This method is also used in tumour therapy.

Today, PACT offers precise, side-effect-free infection control directly at the site of infection. The technology has been adopted worldwide and is available in the fifth generation of devices, enabling targeted treatments without burdening the organism.
